Laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy for advanced pelvic organ prolaps (descensus uteri III-IV, cystocele III-IV, rectocel III-IV) using DynaMesh (PVDF)
Description and evaluation of the Technique in 102 Patients treated laparoscopically to repair advanced (III-IV) genital prolapsed. A non-randomised prospective analysis of 102 women, who underwent laparoscopic genital prolapse repair at St. Luke’s Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece and at Mother and Child Medical Centre in Nikosia, Cyprus. The patients with Descensus uteri underwent total laparoscopic hysterectomy with BSO and then laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy using two different kinds of mesh. PRR for either zyctocele or rectocele and PRS for both. All the patients were reviewed at 1 month, 3 months, 9 months and then every 12 months after the surgery. The follow-up was between 3 months and 84 months (2015-2022).
There were no major intraoperative or postoperative complications and we had no mesh exposure or erosion. The mean hospitalization stay was 2.1 days. The laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy using DynaMesh ((PVDF) is an effective and safe technique to repair the pelvic organ prolapses. The long term anatomical functional results are very satisfactory with no major complications.
